On October 15th, the much-anticipated Blended Wine Festival will be uncorked at Spanish Landing Park and will bring with it a perfect fusion of the finest wine, craft beers, culinary activations, live music acts, lifestyle activations, and much more.

San Diego has long been toasted as the destination for tasty waves and a fine buzz. It has all the action you ever need: beautiful people, a thriving nightlife, culture, surf, and it attracts top musicians from all over the country. Just when you thought it couldn’t get any better, My Wine Society president John Bazzo decided to add a new festival to the mix.

“There was no option to make this an ordinary wine tasting” Said Bazzo.

Wine tasting with a difference

For two days, Blended Wine Festival will transform Spanish Landing Park into a celebration of the good things in life.

It’s less than a few weeks out from the festival launch and there are already a large number of San Diego communities rallying around the concept. With expected crowds of over 10,000 San Diego locals and visiting winos, this epic weekend will be headlined by the Chainsmokers and comes complete with an official after-party hosted by Park Nightclub and sponsored by JaJa Tequila.

There will also be a Sunday event sponsored by Chateau Ste. Michelle Winery at Pendry Hotel.

“I’m so excited to experience the world-class event that our local superstar Kristy Rumsey has helped put together,” said Paddy Pickford, a lifetime San Diego local. “Everyone knows about it and can’t wait for Blended.”  Kristy, who also helps at ParkHQ is helping organize the event.

Millennials - the new digital sommeliers

The festival welcomes everyone from wine rookies to die-hard winos, but one particular group has emerged as the wine warriors. Millennials are obsessed with wine and Blended knows this.

After a legion of Millennials gathered at the first Blended festivals in Nashville and Austin, it became clear that wine festivals have captured a new new audience, and that Blended has quickly become a big player in the festival game.

Nothing brings Millennials together like a glass of wine, delicious food pairings, and live music. A recent survey showed that 80% of Millennials attended 3 or more food and wine events over the past year.

Where the wine industry has failed, Blended has cracked the code. The way Millennials drink wine is vastly different from the old-guard wine tasting industry. Millennials discover new wines from various platforms, such as YouTube, TikTok, and Snapchat. Education platforms, such as Masterclass, are now teaching people how to rate and appreciate wine.

Instead of judging how Millennials think, My Wine Society is a pioneer in using technology and social media to help them discover new wines. “We’ve seen 70-80% new activations for the My Wine Society App,'' explains Bazzo.
